7 Ways To Put A Smile On Somebody’s Face

SMILE
1. Write an encouraging note to others that have encouraged you or that need
encouragement. Handwritten notes that are given to encourage, not just for
thanking someone for a gift, are rare. That makes handwritten notes even
more special. Start a new practice of sitting down and writing an
encouraging note on a regular basis. You just might start an epidemic!
2. Take a friend out to lunch or invite her to your home for a meal. You
will get to know each other even better than you do right now. If you feel
like being more adventurous, throw a party for several of your friends and
put smiles on a multitude of faces.
3. Give someone an inspirational book to read. You will feel good doing it,
reading the book will change the person, and they will think of you every
time they read it.
4. Ask a friend or relative if you can take care of their kid(s) for a day
or evening. If you have been a parent, you know the value of being able to
have a few hours of `adult time` without worrying about the children. Don’t
wait to be asked to baby-sit when it is required. Offer to do it at a time
when the parent can do something fun and relaxing.
5. Deliver a meal to someone you know that is sick or having a rough time.
We have all been sick and know the last thing you want to do is be out of
bed. There are also times when life is tough and it is hard to do all of the
daily chores. You can be a tremendous help by providing a meal that can be
enjoyed.
6. Volunteer time to supporting your local prayer hall or temple. Every
minute you dedicate to charity or temple will cause many smiles. You will
put a smile on the face of each leader just for helping without being asked.
You will also be putting smiles on the faces of those that are being helped
through the organization.
7. Thank everyone that supports you throughout the day. The list of those
that you come in contact with is endless. Remember family and friends,
secretaries, co-workers, teachers, Sunday school teachers, pastors, store
employees, janitors, gas station attendants, those that deliver your mail
and newspaper, and servers at restaurants.

Government Schemes and Projects
The following are some of the Government Schemes and Projects that have been
named after the Nehru-Gandhi family.
Central Government Schemes :
1. Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana, Ministry of Power – A scheme “Rajiv
Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana” for Rural Electricity Infrastructure and
Household Electrification was …launched for the attainment of the National
Common Minimum Programme of providing access to electricity to all Rural
Household by 2009. Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) is the nodal agency
for the scheme. Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana to be continued during
the Eleventh Plan period with a capital subsidy of Rs. 28000 Crore; allocation
of Rs 5500 crore for FY09.
2. Rajiv Gandhi National Drinking Water Mission (RGNDWM), Ministry of Rural
Development, Annual allocation plan 2007-08 was Rs.6,400 crore and Annual
allocation plan 2008-09 is Rs.7,300 crore.
3. Rajiv Gandhi National Crèche Scheme for the Children of Working Mothers,
Department of Women & Child Development, Ministry of HRD, New Delhi,
Budgetary allocation 2008-09 – 91.88 crore.

4. Rajiv Gandhi Udyami Mitra Yojana for benefit of NE entrepreneurs, Ministry of

5. Indira Awas Yojana, Ministry of Rural Areas and Environment – IAY is a CSS
funded on cost-sharing basis between the Centre and the States in the ratio of
75:25. In the case of UTs, the entire funds are provided by Centre. The target
groups for housing under IAY are households below poverty line living in rural
areas, particularly those belonging to SC/ST and freed bonded labourers.

6. Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme – objective to provide social
security to workers in the unorganized sector in a phased manner. Budgetary

Why most computers have female automated voices ?
Scientists have now come up with the underlying reasons that can possibly justify the domination of female automated voices in computers.
The studies have shown that people generally find women’s voices more pleasing than men’s.
“It’s much easier to find a female voice that everyone likes than a male voice that everyone likes,” CNN quoted Stanford University Professor Clifford Nass as saying.
“It’s a well-established phenomenon that the human brain is developed to like female voices,” he added.
The research has also suggested that this preference starts as early as the womb.
Another answer lies in history. According to some sources, the use of female voices in navigation devices dates back to World War II, when women’s voices were employed in airplane cockpits because they stood out among the male pilots.
And telephone operators have traditionally been female, making people accustomed to getting assistance from a disembodied woman’s voice.
When automakers were first installing automated voice prompts in cars decades ago, their consumer research found that people overwhelmingly preferred female voices to male ones, said Tim Bajarin, a Silicon Valley analyst and president of Creative Strategies Inc.
This may explain why in almost all GPS navigation systems in the market except for Germany, the default voice is female.

THE TAX SYSTEM EXPLAINED IN BEER
Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all
ten comes to $100…
If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go
something like this…
The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay $1.
The sixth would pay $3.
The seventh would pay $7.
The eighth would pay $12.
The ninth would pay $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.
So, that’s what they decided to do..
The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the
arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve ball.
“Since you are all such good customers,” he said, “I’m going to reduce
the cost of your daily beer by $20″. Drinks for the ten men would now
cost just $80.
The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so
the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free.
But what about the other six men? How could they divide the $20
windfall so that everyone would get his fair share?
They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted
that from everybody’s share, then the fifth man and the sixth man
would each end up being paid to drink his beer.
So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man’s
bill by a higher percentage the poorer he was, to follow the principle
of the tax system they had been using, and he proceeded to work out
the amounts he suggested that each should now pay.
And so the fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% saving).
The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33% saving).
The seventh now paid $5 instead of $7 (28% saving).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% saving).
The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% saving).
The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% saving).
Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four
continued to drink for free. But, once outside the bar, the men began
to compare their savings.
“I only got a dollar out of the $20 saving,” declared the sixth man.
He pointed to the tenth man,”but he got $10!”
“Yeah, that’s right,” exclaimed the fifth man. “I only saved a dollar
too. It’s unfair that he got ten times more benefit than me!”
“That’s true!” shouted the seventh man “Why should he get $10 back,
when I got only $2? The wealthy get all the breaks!”
“Wait a minute,” yelled the first four men in unison, “we didn’t get
anything at all. This new tax system exploits the poor!”
The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.
The next night the tenth man didn’t show up for drinks, so the nine
sat down and had their beers without him. But when it came time to pay
the bill, they discovered something important. They didn’t have enough
money between all of them for even half of the bill!
And that, boys and girls, journalists and government ministers, is how
our tax system works.
The people who already pay the highest taxes will naturally get the
most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for
being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore.
In fact, they might start drinking overseas, where the atmosphere is
somewhat friendlier.
